Rhino Programme Officer

Position Summary
The post holder will support the development and implementation of WWF-Kenya rhino programme in line with the WWF-Kenya Strategic Plan and the national Rhino Recovery and Action Plans. The post holder will also work with partners to support the execution of priority rhino conservation projects at the national and site levels. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Support the development and implementation of rhino conservation activities in line with projects’ Action Plans.
Support the implementation of programmes focused on strengthening the capacity of rangers and communities to counter wildlife trafficking, while improving both ranger and community well-being in the rhino conservation sites.
Support the WWF Kenya rhino programme development, management and implementation.
Support the technical and financial reporting against the project implementation and Action Plans adhering to WWF network programme management standards.
Supervision and direction of field-based rhino activities in the priority landscapes and work in close collaboration with the respective sub-landscape Coordinators.
Support monitoring, evaluation and learning processes and project reporting including quality assurance, capacity building and conservation innovations.
 Work with the finance and operations teams, supports project procurement of time-bound funded grants, support implementation of annual work plans and coordination of project activities.
Facilitate WWF-Kenya grantees to implement activities as per the Grant Agreements. 
Support the Communications Department to ensure communication of rhino activities and outcomes.
Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required from time to time.

Profile Requirements:

A Bachelor’s degree in wildlife conservation, natural resource management or a related field (A Master’s degree will be an added advantage).
A minimum of 5 years’ practical experience in wildlife conservation in Kenya with an international non-governmental organization or relevant government agency. 
At least 3 years’ demonstrated experience in project development, management (technical and financial), monitoring and reporting (technical and financial) time-bound projects.
Experience in coordination and working with multiple partners (public, private and community), particularly in an NGO environment.
Strong project management, organizational, and financial management skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. 
Must be able to work with minimal supervision, both in the field and in the office.
Team-oriented attitude and ability to work independently.
