How can you make a difference?
Records retention review and appraisal to determine disposition based on the UNICEF retention schedule
Liaison with record creators on retention matters
Prepare document inventories including creating descriptive metadata
Label folders and boxes appropriately
Housing archival records in archival folders and boxes, including other storage management duties
Perform disposition processes using institutional guidelines
Preparation of selected records for scanning where necessary
Identify historical records
Any other duties as required
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
To be enrolled in a degree program in an undergraduate or graduate school in archival studies or related field or be a recent graduate within the past two (2) years with specific post-secondary education in archival studies or related field.
A strong academic performance as demonstrated by recent university or institution records.
A reference letter from a current or past academic supervisor.
Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
Professional Experience:
Demonstrated understanding of international archival standards, including ISAD(G).
Demonstrated understanding of archival appraisal and retention application.
Other Skills and Qualifications:
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Be a Kenyan citizen or have a valid Kenya visa and be able to work legally in Kenya during the duration of the internship.
No immediate relatives working in any UNICEF office or have any other relatives in the line of authority to which the intern will report to.
