Job summary:
Responsible for architecting a sales strategy and building out a team of sales representatives. Should be excited by selling into new markets, strategizing next steps, negotiating complex deals as well knowing and understanding competitors and market demand.
Key responsibilities and duties:
Own all plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
Assist in the development of the sales plan.
Prepare forecasts and KPI reporting for upper management and directors, for use in organizational planning, financial forecasting, budget setting and strategic planning.
Establish the inbound lead requirements needed to meet sales objectives
Provide full visibility into the sales pipeline at every stage of development
Establish and foster partnerships and relationships with key customers both externally and internally
Establish customer relationship management (CRM) systems and guidelines to manage customer relationships.
Investigate factors impacting sales performance.
Effectively and efficiently manage the sales team
Develop an efficient process of vetting the credit rating of new and existing customers and taking overall responsibility for timely follow up and collection of payments of the sales team
Work with the Sales, Account Management and Operations teams to implement targeted sales strategy
Overall responsibility for the direction, strategic development, performance and maintenance of the sales activities of the sales team.
Develop a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy to maximize sales opportunities.
Skills
Key competencies
10 years of relevant sales experience in a senior sales position, preferably head of sales within a fast-paced and dynamic business environment – preferably in the FMCG space.
Bachelor’s degree in sales & marketing, business administration, or a relevant field.
Possess extensive knowledge of sales principles and practices, and an ability to coach others on them
Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations, and drive actions.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
Strength in problem solving, issue-resolution, ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Strong leadership and team building skills
Proven and successful ability to lead a group of sales team towards growth in enhanced sales volumes and enhanced revenue generation, while displaying exceptional leadership skills and confidence.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
