Communications and Advocacy Manager

Key relationships

Works with the Country Director to develop and implement the Communications & media Strategy and Plan of action for the response program
Attends meetings with stakeholders and make relevant and strategic papers and write-ups
Represent MSK at external forums as applicable including civil society, political and technical 
Liaises with program and operations teams
Collaborate and consult with colleagues at Country Office and other Country Program Offices including Global Support Office Advocacy Leads

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, International Relations, International Development, Social Sciences or a closely related field.

Skills

Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in designing and executing advocacy and communications strategies and campaigns, preferably in the field of sexual and reproductive health, global health or global development.
Experience supporting successful and impactful communication strategies for comparable programs or organizations working with diverse stakeholders (governments, funders, implementation organizations)
Ability to think strategically, set priorities and manage concurrent projects, manage time effectively, exercise independent judgment and assume responsibility for seeing projects through to timely and successful completion
Experience in writing content for various audiences including researchers, policy makers, donors, online influencers and others
Experience selecting and managing communications contractors
Strong experience in the dynamic/adaptive use of social media to advance a communications strategy/agenda.
Up to date on industry trends in communications and knowledge management and able to stay ahead of the latest developments in the industry
Deep personal commitment to sexual & reproductive health & rights, including the right to safe abortion for all who need it
Ability to be bold, diplomatic and willing to champion a stigmatized issue
Self-motivated; willingness to work independently and as part of a team
Great interpersonal skills and able to work effectively in multi-cultural work environment and committed to promoting an inclusive culture where everyone is valued and belongs
Good photography and filming skills;
Ability to work independently and as a team player.

Good time management and problem-solving skills.
