Overall Purpose of the Job
The Systems and Cloud Solutions Architect will develop scalable and cost-effective architectural solutions for on-premises and cloud-managed services to icipe’s 4-H paradigm (Environmental, Plant, Human, and Animal Health Themes). The Systems and Cloud Solutions Architect will also be responsible for engineering systems and building elastic and interoperable solutions.
Specific Duties
Database programming and management, including regular acquisition, digitizing, centralized data management, data validation, data cleaning and processing, and release to users.
Develop web applications preferably in Node/React JS or any other relevant front and backend web programming languages.
Design and deploy scalable, cost-effective, interoperable, and robust cloud architectural solutions that adapt to dynamic business and research data needs.
Re-engineer deployed systems and those under implementation.
Optimum functioning and reengineering of the cloud and on-premises High-Performance Computing (HPC) Server.
Requirements/Qualifications
At least 1 year of work experience in a relevant area.
Previous experience at an international/ regional research organization is an added advantage.
BSc/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any other related field from a recognized University.
Related certification(s) in cloud-managed services is an added advantage.
Good understanding of web programming using Node/React JS and other modern programming languages.
Sound knowledge of various operating systems (Linux, AIX, Solaris, Windows) and database management systems (Oracle, Ms. SQL, MySQL, Postgres, and NoSQL DBs).
Good understanding of Agile methodologies.
Demonstrated skills and experience with CSPro, RedCap, KOBO, ODK, ONA, and survey.
Good understanding of cloud-managed services (preferably in Azure and AWS), IT security, data infrastructure, governance, and user-centered design practices.
Self-motivated and strong organizational and interpersonal skills and leadership skills.
Experience in installing end-user applications and supporting end-users working on highperformance computing (HPC) systems is an added advantage.
