Director – Open, Distance & E-Learning University Librarian

Main Responsibilities

Provide guidelines for repackaging of content into formats appropriate for delivery through open, distance blended, flipped and e-learning 
Identify, install and maintain an e-learning platform (learner/content management system – LMS/CMS) 
Coordinate recruitment of ODeL students
Train academic staff to design and repackage content for ODeL delivery 
Provide support for academic staff in uploading content, access reading materials, management of content and students
Provide support for students (orientation onto the platform, respond to inquiries, access to instructional materials, and information on skills required for an ODeL learner) 
Establish ODeL centers as may be required by the University
Provide advisory to University Management on matters pertaining to ODeL 
Coordinate the evaluation and production of Self Learning Instructional Materials (SLIMS)/Modules 
Market ODeL programmes 
Coordinate the provision of professional and continuing education 
Identify and participate in the recruitment and management of staff of ODeL 
Coordinate the purchasing of equipment and other required materials 
Oversee the day to day running of the Directorate 
Participate in appropriate committees of the University
Deliver on any other responsibility/s as assigned by management from time totim

Proven ability to effectively manage projects in a collaborative, team-based environment
Ability to organize, motivate and work effectively with a diverse students, teaching and non-teaching staff 
Ability to formulate, interpret, adapt, and apply policies and regulations 
Advanced computer software skills in digital media and e-learning content development tools
Excellent oral and written communication, editing and documentation skills
Excellent knowledge of University programs and distance learning approaches to instruction
