Education

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in political science, international relations, law, public administration or related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five (05) years of progressively responsible experience in political science, international relations, security, conflict resolution or related area is required.
Experience in political analysis and advice is required.
Experience working on peace and security issues in or on the regional context in the Great Lakes region of Africa, is required.
Experience working in a United Nations common system field operation (inclusive of peacekeeping and political missions or similar international organisation is desirable
Experience with policy development and programme management and implementation is desirable.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised fluency in English and French, (both oral and written) is required.
