Job Requirements
A minimum of Bachelor degree in Social Sciences with a bias in Social Work, Information Study, Sociology, Community Development, Gender Studies, Counseling Psychology, Anthropology or any other related discipline from a recognized Institution.
Registered practitioner with relevant bodies
Must have served for least three years at the level of Assistant Director Gender or its equivalent position.
Possess Leadership skills, Communication skills, Interpersonal skills, Organizational skills, Ability to work under pressure, Negotiation skills, Ability to build and lead cohesive teams, Problem solving skills.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and integrity.
Job Description
Plans, Organizes, Coordinates and implements community development programmes at the County level.
Formulation of policies and legislations on community development and library matters.
Coordinating development, implementation and review of library information policies, standards and guidelines.
Overseeing the development of programmes and activities to promote library and information service and reading.
Validating networking and collaboration programmes.
Institutionalize international standards, procedures and norms.
Promoting and facilitating innovation and review of library information services and community development products.
Monitoring, evaluation and reporting on implementation of library service and community development programmes.
Coordinating preparation of budget and funding proposals.
Coordinating research programmes and projects in library and information service.
Coordinate the preparation of the library & community development work plans, setting performance targets and budget estimates, guiding, supervising, coaching and mentoring staff.
Coordinate the organization of local events/activities/exhibitions for communities and educational tours at the county.
Responsible for coordinating cataloguing, acquisition, storage, circulation, preservation, conservation, weeding, classification.
Indexing and abstracting information services.
Coordinating retrieval of information.
Coordinating interlibrary loan services.
Compiling information for determination of optimal staffing levels.
