Radiographers (7 Positions)

CHS is currently sourcing for high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the position of Radiographers in Nairobi (1), Turkana (1), Kitui (1), Meru (1), Kisumu (1), Siaya (1) and Mombasa (1).
Overall Job Function
The radiographers will be responsible for the implementation of the “Introducing New tools project”  (iNTP)  among them the World Health Organization recommended tuberculosis screening of clients using ultra-portable digital machines and computer-aided diagnostic software in facilities and outreach settings in Kenya. They will ensure the taking of radiographs, and seamless transmission and storage of radiographic images in accordance with international and country-specific policies on the handling, storage, and transmission of radiological images.
Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for the overall coordination of radiological services at the iNTP implementation facility working closely work with the medical/ clinical staff to ensure screening of patients at all the service points.
He/she will provide leadership support to initiate, and support the installation and running of the new ultra-portable digital X-ray machines and computer-aided diagnostic software (CAD).
In collaboration with the consultant radiologists and facility in-charge, develop facility standard operating procedures, and other guidance documents to ensure smooth implementation of the project.
To conduct a high standard of radiography as well as ensure accurate documentation and care of patient records.
To ensure that the three principles of radiation protection, namely justification, optimisation (ALARA) and dose constraints/limits are adhered to. To be familiar with the WHO Basic safety standards for the protection of health workers and the general public against the dangers arising from Ionising Radiation and on the health protection of individuals against the dangers of ionising radiation in relation to medical exposure.
Ensure radiation safety measures and protection devices are used and observed to ensure compliance and safety for both patients and staff.
To take part in the routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures and to report any defects or problems to the laid out channels.
Ensure scheduled planned preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on the radiographic equipment are conducted.
Day-to-day coordination, management of implementation for the iNTP Project as per organization and donor guidelines to ensure that project is on time, within budget and achieves desired quality and outputs
Offer support in reporting and coordination by ensuring all patient records are properly documented in the patient request forms and registers, maintain accurate inventory records, and ensure daily/weekly HIS reports are compiled and submitted on time.
He/she in collaboration with the facility in charge will take lead in quality improvement at the department and be part of (Quality Improvement Committee (QIC)
Conduct other duties assigned that are appropriate to the position

Qualifications

Diploma in medical imaging from Kenya Medical Training College or BSC (Hons) in Radiography from a recognized institution.
At least two years of experience in a busy X-ray department
Must be registered by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
Must have a current and valid practising license.

Should be highly experienced in radiographing, covering a wide range of clinical examinations and applications
High level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service.
Showcase a degree of physical dexterity, coordination and sensory skills required for positioning of or handling patients
Ability to depict a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and sensitivity
Proven leadership skills, integrity,  communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
Ability to work and deliver results with minimum supervision
Ability to work well with others and develop and maintain relationships with project staff, other partners, including  staff supervision
Ability to identify problems, design interventions and oversee their implementation
Computer literacy in the use of MS Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
