Logistics Assistant

Task description
Under the direct supervision of Logistics and Procurement Assistant in charge of Asset Management and overall supervision of Logistics & Procurement Officer, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks :

Assists in the assessment of the current situation of the stores including store facilities, condition of the equipment, manpower in place, and processes.
Participate in an accurate and complete stock level count.
Assesses the availability of space and prepare stacking/storage plans in order to utilize the space optimally.
Assesses the strengths and the weaknesses of the stores operation and propose corrective actions.
Contribute to establishing appropriate procedures and systems for an efficient stores operations.
Assists in maintaining of the IOM inventory and store operations, in line with IOM policies and procedures.
Assists in verification of the receipts and dispatch of all consignments arriving in the stores.
Assists Check items into or out of inventory and analyse the consumption from the users.
Assists with administrative work to ensure the supplies and stocks are correctly documented using standard inventory formats and/or existing database.
Supports storage of goods correctly to minimize possibility of damage or deterioration
Assists with the stocking, maintaining records, preparation of distribution plan and real time withdrawal of goods using correct format already in place.
Participate in regular stores physical inventory counts and submit subsequent inventory reports.
Contributes to preparation of monthly/weekly stocks and logistics movement reports
Prepare necessary steps for commodity disposal in coordination with the supervisor.
Monitor the quantity and quality of supplies stored Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to :
Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day) ;
Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country ;
Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking, including participation in ongoing reflection activities ;
Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc. ;
Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers ;
Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible.

Age: 18 – 26
Nationality

Candidate must be a national or legal resident of the country of assignment.

Requirements
Required experience

0 years of experience in Logistics/inventory Management (demonstrated interest and/or experience up to 2 years) Previous experience as a volunteer and/or experience of another culture, (i.e. studies, volunteer work, internship) would be highly regarded
