IFC’s Operations Management Department (OMD) collaborates across IFC VPUs to simplify processes, maximize efficiencies, and enable delivery of IFC’s strategic priorities and commitments, as well as coordinate collaboration with the World Bank and MIGA on relevant WBG papers and programs. The department is seeking to recruit a dynamic, adaptable, high performing Operations Analyst who will support the work program under two Units in the department – Operational Management and Client Support (COMOS) and Business Improvement, Systems, Operational Risk and Change Management (COMOP) as determined thru the annual objective setting process. The position, which will report to the Global Lead for COMOS and , will be primarily focused on providing operational management and client support for the Africa region as well as Africa region focused inputs for Business Improvement and Change Management.
Role & Responsibilities
Support operational teams (in assigned industries/business areas) in enhancing project quality throughout the life cycle of projects, including:
Help strengthen project quality at entry and project design, including conducting quality reviews of project documents.
Support effective portfolio supervision and course correction by providing feedback on select PSRs (based on agreed criteria) and Restructuring/Droppage/Termination Memos as needed.
Support and monitor completion of Completion Notes/Reports for quality and compliance with governance.
Play a pro-active role in identifying performance flags from the Advisory/Upstream portfolio, make recommendations for improvements and escalate issues as needed.
Support operational teams to ensure timely completion of formal project cycle processes and advise teams on key dates/timelines and governance grace period/thresholds.
Provide guidance on Advisory/Upstream Governance and ADM.
Provide analytical and other inputs for regional and corporate initiatives and programs
Support the operationalization of business process simplification, innovation, and automation.
Provide program management support for the Facility for Investment Climate Advisory Services (FIAS) program.
Contribute to the preparation of material for regional Country Driven Budget (CDB) review meetings.
Provide Advisory/Upstream inputs for regional or corporate portfolio/project highlights for management.
Provide input for select regional and corporate initiatives as requested.
Selection Criteria
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, International Development, or a related field.
Minimum five years of relevant experience.
Excellent analytical, MS Excel and PowerPoint skills.
In-depth knowledge of IFC Advisory governance, processes, and systems.
Working knowledge of IFC’s Advisory/Upstream reports and analytic tools.
Experience in or knowledge of project design and project management.
Working knowledge of IFC and regional strategic priorities.
Strong problem solving, conceptual, and analytical skills.
Excellent written and oral English language skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to interact with people at all levels.
Detail oriented, team player with organizational skills and demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Self-starter, able to operate with minimum support – able to work independently, and also as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively in situations of high demand and pressure and tight deadlines.
Positive attitude and capacity to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
