JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the role of this position is to market software for the Technology Donation Programme for TechSoup partnership. This position is part of the broaderKCDF’s communications unit that enables KCDF to actively promote its work and seek opportunities to share its success in supporting non-profits in East Africa with donated and discounted software products. This position is a key contributor in supporting the technology programme, focusing on the technical side while offering business solutions through the donated and discounted software products and its offerings. In addition, the holder of this position is also expected to closely collaborate and work with the Data Management Officer ensuring data quality – collection,analyzing and packaging of reported data by KCDF and the Logistics Officer to provide IT support
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily monitoring of TechSoup Kenya and the Global Expansion Platforms for Uganda, Rwanda,Burundi, Tanzania and Ethiopia to ensure that all orders are responded to as well as qualifying new organizations while conducting a thorough background check in line with the Techsoup Global’s validation process.
Daily monitoring of TechSoup Kenya support email address to ensure all client queries are responded to or escalated to the case-tracker for resolution.
Content management of the TechSoup Kenya platform with relevant information of the products KCDF offers as well as liaising with the Communications Officer on social media activation. This also involves deploying product catalogue updates as and when they are sent to KCDF.
Assist the Communications Officer in marketing the Product Donation Programme by makingvisits to interested organizations as well as doing desk research of clients in
the larger EasternAfrica that can be targeted to register to the programme.
Identifying and developing new business through networking and courtesy follow-up calls.
Producing monthly reports of the sales as well as projected sales and/or activities for the nextmonth while highlighting both the successes and challenges experienced in managing the programme.
Responding to clients’ IT related deployments while providing technical advice to customers on all aspects of the installation and use of computer systems and networks, both before andafter the sale.
Networking with existing customers to maintain links and promote additional products and upgrades.
Responding to pre-qualification questionnaires or to tender documents of target
Civil Society Organizations.
Providing IT support and IT capacity building to KCDF Staff on needs basis.
Supporting expansion of TechSoup projects.
Any other duties that may be assigned to you from time to time.
KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
A University Degree in Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT) or any other relevant area of specialization within Information Technology.
3- years sales experience in Software sales is a basic requirement.
Should have business orientation with an understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Experienced marketing and customer service with special interest in Business Information Technology.
Excellent team working, motivation, interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support staff and customers in product donation products and engage with staff on IT Support.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills with Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
