About the job
The Communications Officer will work in close collaboration with, and under the supervision of, PEP’s Director of Communications and M&E to contribute to the successful implementation of the PEP Communication Strategy.
In particular, s/he will be responsible for:
Achieving the monthly and annual indicators and targets set out in the Communication Strategy
Managing the PEP website, social media accounts and newsletter – including content* development and design, as well as using and improving PEP’s editorial tools/channels and calendar.
Disseminating, democratizing and promoting findings from PEP-supported research – includes editing of policy briefs, supporting research teams to improve their communication of findings, and developing synthesis products and thematic contents*/campaigns to show the value of PEP research
Developing compelling (storytelling) contents* to highlight the impact of PEP projects, support and capacity building – Find examples of PEP “impact stories” here: https://www.pep-net.org/pep-impact-stories
Designing and operationalizing a strategic social media approach, using a range of multimedia assets*, to 1) promote the PEP brand, 2) engage PEP’s target audiences, 3) raise the external profile of the organization
Co-leading the organization and leading the promotion of PEP events (e.g. webinars, annual conferences)
Supporting the Director of Communications in preparing the PEP annual reports, as well as designing and facilitating communication training activities
Copy editing/proofreading of all PEP external communications – including funding proposals, key reports to donors, etc.
The terms “contents” and “assets” refers to the development of both:
Written materials (articles, summaries, etc.); the candidate must have impeccable English-writing skills. Command or knowledge of French or Spanish will be considered a plus.
Digital products (short videos, infographics, slide decks, animations, etc.); the candidate must have a good command of design tools/apps, such as those of the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, and some creative talent.
First month probationary period will include:
Analyzing PEP’s work towards its 2021 Communication Strategy objectives to identify trends and areas for improvement, with a focus on social media targets
Editing and formatting at least one policy brief, and drafting social media content (posts including text and visuals) to promote the team’s findings and recommendations
Drafting a news item about a PEP research team’s National Policy Conference based on the team’s reports and research outputs.
