Specialist III: Legal

What You’ll Bring

Negotiation and drafting of agreements, proposals, tender documents and any other document of a legally binding / potential risk / cost intensive nature;
Performing legal research to guide/advise the business;
Providing support with any regulatory change implementation, including all credit and privacy regulations;
Provision of advice including assistance in respect of compliance, corporate investigations, and the drafting of communications to customers and regulators;
Assist management in their understanding of the legal risks related to their business area, through:
Reviewing of new business and products for compliance with legal requirements.
Participating in working groups for key projects
Strategic partnering with TransUnion Africa business units by participating fully in broad strategic issues, growth initiatives and product development
Where required, managing all litigation matters, instructions to attorneys to defend matters; and ensuring the mitigation of TransUnion’s risk and costs exposure;
Relationship management, training and reporting.
Performing of other related duties as assigned.

Impact You’ll Make

We are looking for a minimum LLB Degree (or equivalent) with at least to five to eight years post-qualification experience.
General commercial and legal experience at a large commercial law firm or corporation within a highly regulated industry.
Experience in the following areas of law is advantageous: Consumer protection and privacy laws, regional credit laws, intellectual property, technology and e-commerce, and credit reporting laws.
Extensive contract negotiation and drafting experience.
Ability to handle multiple complex tasks and priorities continuously.
Critical strategic thinking skills, ability to rapidly assess issues and associated risk and ability to make critical decisions in a fast paced environment are essential.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand documents such as laws, business documents, system documents, company policies, and procedures.
Ability to work in a team environment and with peers and management on all levels of the organization.
Proven ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written, verbal and negotiating skills as well as interface effectively with all levels of management and present a fitting corporate image to the press and public. This position requires travel.
Proficient in MS Office.
