BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. The mission of WFP is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
The Business Transformation unit provides digital assistance services to UN World Food Programme, programmes and operations in Kenya. These services include but not limited to business solution application under the freedom in a framework (FIAF) guideline; support and maintenance of existing business solution; end user training; business process automation; data analysis and support for O365 Tools.
This position is expected to deliver digital assistance services (DAS) to digitize WFP’s programmatic response, leveraging core and/or deploying bespoke local DAS solutions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Design and implement stable reliable and effective IT applications.
Data Analytics and BI.
Produce System Specification requirements from business problems when required.
Research and suggest new business solutions and services, to support office automation.
Provide system support to users for developed solutions.
Create and maintain technical documentation.
Implement required testing regime to ensure developed systems are functional.
Developing and maintaining APIs to support data and technology integration where needed.
Respond to service requests on developed systems and incident resolution.
Ensure developed solutions follow WFP guidelines for software solutions

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: First University degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Information Systems, Computer Science or Information Technology, is desirable.
Demonstrated experience working within or leading high-performance teams
Language: English
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
Experience:
At least 3 years of experience in software development / programming and maintenance.
Experience in database applications.
Experience in UML.
Experience in backend web development MVC Frameworks Experience in mobile application development
Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of test-driven development (TDD).
Strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex and technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Azure DevOps experience
Experience in mobile application development
Extensive knowledge in Object Oriented programming
Extensive knowledge in HTML, CSS, SASS or (LESS)
Knowledge in at least one of the following CSS framework: bootstrap, materialize, foundation
Working knowledge of Python, C#, Java and Node.Js or Django frameworks
Microsoft certification is a plus
Mature judgment with strong communication and interpersonal skills
Collaborative spirit able to liaise with a wide range of people at all levels
