Job Summary
The job holder is responsible for;
All aspects of the design, development, deployment, operations, training and support of key SharePoint solution developments to automate business processes and support existing ones.
Work as part of the SharePoint development team to design and develop enterprise portals and applications built on top of SharePoint.
Development or enhancements of new online solutions as per new business requirements and continuous improvement initiatives in line with procedures and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Understand KRA’s collaboration, workflow, data and document management requirements and opportunities to drive a paperless, do-it-yourself, and do-it-for-me culture.
Work closely with users and stakeholders to analyse and determine detailed business requirements as they relate to SharePoint solution opportunities.
Determine the most effective SharePoint solution architecture and taxonomies to address identified business requirements
Review existing SharePoint solutions to identify and address any deficiencies
Carry out analysis, design, development, and delivery of custom-built web parts, application pages, user controls, web services, master pages, application wizards, dashboards, and reports.
Develop integration layers to back-end databases, remote web services, and other data sources.
Extending SharePoint functionality with forms, web parts, and application technologies.
Set SharePoint development project schedules, manage stakeholder expectations and provide timely communications and reporting.
Lead development and deployment of SharePoint solutions to meet identified requirements
Provide expert user support and guidance on SharePoint solutions as required.
Drive best practice usage and compliance with policy and audit requirements.
Contribute to improving consistency and effectiveness of information and document governance within the Authority.
Drive consistency in SharePoint deployment and usage, including taxonomies, templates, master pages and security management
Resolving incidents as level two and level three support
Resolving problems as level two and level three support
Reviewing design and architecture to guarantee service availability, performance and resilience.
Prepare documentation (User manuals, Technical manuals, deployment instructions, roll back instructions, etc.) to ensure that they meet set quality standards
Ensures that the approved coding standards are consistently applied in every solution developed.
Ensure conformity to ISO (9001:2015 and 27001:2013) and data security requirements.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or any other IT related field.
Bachelor’s degree in any other field with a Postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any other IT related field.
Required Certifications/Trainings
Professional Certification or Training in any one of the following areas is required:
Microsoft SharePoint training / certification MOSS or WSS certification.
Systems Development i.e. Java Programming, Python, Web Design and Development, Oracle Developer etc.
Business Systems Analysis i.e. CBAP Certification / Training
Systems Modelling and Design Techniques
Process Modelling and Design Techniques
Desired Certifications
Certification or training in any of the following areas will be an added advantage:
Training in middle level management / Supervisory Skills courses.
IT Governance i.e. ITIL or COBIT 4/5
Project Management i.e. PMP, Prince 2 or Scrum.
Training or Certification in Database Administration i.e. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
Training in operating systems i.e. Windows, Linux or Unix.
Technical Skills Required:
The Job holder must have:
Working experience in SharePoint Product Development and Administration
Practical SharePoint product experience – configuring, administration, development and deploying solutions
Experience of developing SharePoint sites / pages
Good front end/CSS skills and experience
Experience of integrating SharePoint with third party applications – using CSOM, JSOM, API etc.
Strong knowledge of SharePoint Application models
Strong practical knowledge of SharePoint Search Service, User Profile Service and other Service Applications
Strong practical experience in the use of PowerShell.
Experience taking requirements and generating designs and implementing a final solution
Experience developing SharePoint web parts, site templates, content types
Extensive knowledge and skills in SharePoint Server, C#, ASP.NET, and .NET Frameworks ADO.NET, VB, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, XML, SQL Server, Web Services, security, instrumentation, exception handling, SharePoint branding and support of large, complex, or enterprise-wide solutions
Basic knowledge of the following tools: process modelling (MS Visio, etc.), Project Management i.e. MS Project and Presentation i.e. MS PowerPoint
Relevant Work Experience Required
Proven experience in design, development and implementation of SharePoint products.
Proven experience in integration of business systems in a similar large organization.
At least three (3) years’ experience as a software developer in a busy organization.
Minimum of 2 years work experience in SharePoint development
