Job Purpose
Responsible for spearheading management of financial risk in line with BOA Kenya’s Risk, Management Framework.
Key Duties and Responsibilities for the New Staff:
Risk Management Framework:
Implementation and periodic review of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework on Financial Risk, Market, Liquidity and Project Risk frameworks.
Review of risk event reports and action on Financial Risk, Market, Liquidity and Project Risk related matters.
Identify, define, and implement Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
Continuously revise KRIs based on the Bank’s risk appetites.
Monthly update of the detailed Financial Risk, Market, Liquidity and Project Risk Register.
Stress Testing, Scenario Analysis & Valuation Modelling:
Development and review of stress testing framework, scenario analysis, and capital modelling.
Conduct Monthly & Regulatory Liquidity and Market Risk Stress Tests.
Monthly reviews of GAP Analysis for Liquidity & Interest Rate risk.
Establishment of New valuation models (VaR, Sensitivity Analysis) and presentation to ALCO for adoption by the Bank & Monthly usage.
Risk Assessments & Monitoring:
New Product and Process Risk assessments.
Review and monitor ALM controls, policies & limits.
Monitoring of risk indicators against the Bank’s various appetites.
Reporting and Regulatory Enforcement:
Market Policy reviews and governance updates.
Check and ensure the adequacy between the Bank’s practices and regulatory requirements (Basel II and various Risk guidelines).
Preparation of reports (daily, weekly monthly, quarterly and Board as required).
Develop dashboards and implementation of regulatory reports (ICAAP Models, Counterparty reviews).
IFRS 9 model analysis.
Market Research:
Daily scanning of Market information (Regulators, Securities Markets & General Information).
Ensure the Bank’s alignment to best practice and global standards.
Co-operation/Liaison with the Other Teams:
Monthly follow up for implementation of risk matters.
Attend other risk related committee meetings and ad-hoc Project committee meetings.
Other Special Assignments as assigned by the Head of Enterprise Risk.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration from a recognized University.
Financial Risk Management Certifications (FRM, CFA, FRR, ACI) preferred.
Competencies and Attributes
Skills/Experience Required
Minimum 3 years relevant experience in market risk management in banking or financial institution.
Knowledge in Treasury Front and Back-Office Operations.
Knowledge of IFRS 9 standard with technical knowledge of ECL calculations.
Thorough understanding of CBK prudential guidelines and the Risk management guidelines.
Sound understanding of Enterprise Risk Management.
Proficiency in Microsoft excel
Excellent communication skills.
