Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the Assistant position is to implement the day-to-day activities of the LFS Project. 
Generic responsibilities (max 10)
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action
Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
Ensure proper filing of documents
Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function

Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

Support the development, implementation and monitoring of the general LFS livelihood project activities in Dadaab.
Conduct project awareness among stakeholders at community level in Dadaab camps and surrounding communities
Conduct beneficiaries’ mobilization and registration based on the targeting criteria for a particular activity or project
Conduct regularly monitor activities of other youth groups and SMEs and provide follow up support in relation to training, inputs and post-training/distribution monitoring.
Carry out distribution of materials or cash grants to registered beneficiaries and complete distribution lists in accordance with NRC’s beneficiary distribution lists and cash-based intervention (CBI) standard operating procedures (SOP). Facilitate and gather information on market systems, market analysis
Collect data required for the projects’ output and outcome monitoring system. Write weekly/monthly progress reports.
Ensure all Livelihood reports are prepared and submitted on timely basis.
Ensure the supervision and management of all the community workers within the sector.
Assist all the activity implementation of livelihoods for both the refugees and the host community groups.
Raise all the required project Purchase request in consultation with the line manager.
To represent NRC and LFS Sector in livelihood Cluster meetings.
To carry out any additional task assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Social Science
Certificate in Project Planning and Management
Certificate in Monitoring and Evaluation       
Minimum of 5 years’ experience within the related field in both emergency and recovery.
Technical specific  knowledge from the humanitarian sector
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Documented technical  competences related to the position’s responsibilities
Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
Fluency in English, Kiswahili and Somali both written and verbal

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

Relevant experience in Livelihood and Food security in emergency, recovery and development stages.  
 Strong analytical, administration and documentation skills in the management of food security and livelihoods activities in both emergency and protracted programmes.
Ability to organize and prioritize work
Excellent ability to coherently lead and manage diverse spread out teams
Works well under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent action and process focus on outputs and outcomes
Excellent analytical skills
