Role Purpose
Set the base and lead the development and execution of Sub-Saharan Africa multi crop Seeds and Traits Licensing strategy as part of the regional over-all EMEA licensing strategy. Drive Bayer Seeds and Traits Licensing business activation and growth by leading the engagement with private sector partners and licensees across Sub Saharan Africa, including outreach to relevant non-governmental organizations, Research Institutes, etc.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
In close collaboration with all relevant functions and internal stakeholders.
Seeds:
Participate to the Product Advancement Process PMT for the licensing channel to optimize the licensing portfolio development, product registration and seed production FTO in conjunction with Breeding/Market Development/Regulatory
Ensure that appropriate crop plans are implemented for proper seed supply to our licensees together with planning & supply functions.
Traits:
Participate to the deployment and penetration of our traits platform through the licensing channel.
Manage and execute on the licensing decision matrix and coordinate the steering team for traits deregulation decisions, when necessary, in line with business, sustainability and small holder farmers reach goals.
Ensure proper use of our technologies by our licensees with support of Stewardship function.
Competitive Intelligence:
Analyze licensee customers and competition’s Seeds and Traits portfolios and sales across the region.
Understand licensees’ Seeds and Traits needs, in short and long term.
Evaluate new licensing opportunities.
Customer Engagement:
Proactively engage and develop strong collaborations with strategic partners.
Manage interactions with licensees to identify product needs, drive products presentation, suggest products allocations, and negotiate Seed and/or Traits testing and commercial licensing agreements in coordination with EMEA licensing lead and LPC.
Ensure proper business tracking is in place and provide relevant forecasts.
Participate to identify business digitalization opportunities
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
Degree / Tertiary qualification, with 5+ years’ experience in the seed business i.e. Product Management, Sales, Marketing, Market Development.
Strong marketing / business acumen, with a solid understanding of the seed business.
Fluent with software programs: outlook, excel, work and power point.
Strong customer orientation with a good sense of relationship management and building trust.
Good analytical skills, strong planning capabilities, detail orientation and strategic thinking.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to develop, foster and utilize a broad base of networks at all levels of the organization and across geographies.
