Human Resources Officer

The Role
Reporting to the Director, People and Culture and based in Lwala, the Human Resources Officer will ensure smooth human resource management and administrative functions in line with the overall organizational Human Resource policies and procedures.
The job is high pressure, conducted in an office setting, and may require work outside of official working hours. The position involves limited travel demands**.**
Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of Human Resource Officer include, but are not limited to, the following:
Drafting of all employment contracts, service contracts and other forms of contracting for consultants, fellows, interns, volunteers, short-term and full-time staff
Support in compilation and onward communication of monthly payroll changes data
Act as the first point of contact for employee inquiries and queries for clarification of policies and regulations
Support the DPC in training and orientation on topical issues related to HR
Providing ongoing counselling on policies and procedures
In liaison with departmental heads and the DPC, ensure all staff have clear performance objectives and annual target setting/approved KPIs at all performance management cycles
Support departmental heads and the DPC in coordinating mid-year reviews and end-year performance evaluations and validations
Summarize end of year and mid-year performance review reports for action planning
Provide ongoing advise to the staff and line managers on scoring and performance categories and their implications
Ensure accurate and timely inputting of HR and employee-related data into the HRIS system (Salesforce, Excel, Payslipmaker)
Conduct HR analysis and generate HR reports periodically or whenever required
Draft memos, communiques or announcements for circulation to staff
Generate reports for sharing for internal and external audiences
Support in the compilation of articles for the staff newsletter
Supporting the development and implementation of HR systems development projects and organizational development initiatives

Qualifications and Experience Required

A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Human Resource Management or Business Administration.
CHRP Accreditation
Or Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management.
Proficiency in MS Office suite (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and use of work collaborative applications such as Zoom, Dropbox, Google Workspace, etc
Competency in HR Software or HR Information Management systems such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, etc
Must have a business acumen and a highly analytical mind
Must have the ability to work and relate well with people from diverse backgrounds, and deal with people in a respectful manner.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Have excellent public relations and interpersonal skills
Ability to work with minimum supervision and solve problems and ‘think on one’s feet’.
At least three (3) years relevant work experience in a similar position organization in a medium-sized organization
