Key roles and responsibilities.
Program Management:
In charge of the STC programs and projects in Marigat. The Program Officer ensures that the projects plans are planned, completed on schedule and on budget while meeting the project’s objectives.
Collaborate with Country Education Manager in providing direction for the program to ensure the program is achieving its objectives and goals.
Assist in designing and implementing the Country Programme, mainstreamed with cross-cutting and child safeguarding issues, especially in Marigat.
Coordinating and working with implementing partners/agencies and participants in project design, proposal development, contractual agreements; and supporting the monitoring and evaluation unit during monitoring and project and program evaluations in Marigat
Support Program Manager to ensure project outcomes are delivered to quality required by the programme and to schedule, within set budgets and scope.
Plan and manage day to day of the program and projects including workplans, reports and support organization wide activities and campaigns as needed.
Leadership Management:
Serve as liaison between Sub County office of Marigat, Department of education, Sub County leadership and the program/SO THEY CAN Kenya office.
Coordinate, provide training and support to interns and volunteers in regards to their roles and responsibilities.
In coordination with finance and operations team, manage logistics, administration and finance for programme activities.
Working with program team to collate financial and narrative reporting information on programs, placements and projects, assisting in preparation and dissemination of learning.
In liaison with the Country Education Manager, map and identify the program participants.
Providing volunteers and primary actors with necessary skills and resources to improve education activities. Support recruitment, induction/orientation and training activities.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
In liaison with the Monitoring Evaluation & Learning officer, provide technical assistance and take leadership in monitoring project activities to ensure that they are implemented in a systematic and timely manner to follow work plan targets, achieve technical requirements and complete deliverables in accordance with project agreements and budgets in Marigat
In liaison with the Project Accountant and Country Education Manager Monitor and track project budget expenditures in Marigat
Working with line staff and interns Compile and write timely and quality activity, monthly, quarterly and annual project reports for activities,
Prepare success stories, case studies and other reports as assigned by the Country Education Manager.
With support from the MEL officer coordinate and participate in project data collection exercises in Marigat
Stakeholder Management and Communications:
Build effective working relationships with project stakeholders, engaging them at each project stage, ensuring communications have appropriate content and tone.
Manage information flows between the directing and delivering levels of the project.
Ensure organizational communications about project benefits, progress and outcomes suit audience and are timely.
Anticipate project risks and issues, communicating them to stakeholders, taking action to resolve.
Manage the relationship with stakeholders and program participants in the area including communications and represent so they can Kenya in Education matters in Marigat. Also, to identify other partners and stakeholders in Marigat

Education and experience:
University graduate in Education, Arts, Social Sciences, Community Development, Political Science, Project Management, or any other relevant field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in implementing Education or Community development projects
Minimum 2 years proven project implementation experience in NGO’s, demonstrating the capacity to manage budgets, staff and interventions.
Good understanding of the local context preferred.
Significant experience in budget preparation and management, quality report writing and editing skills.
Significant Monitoring and evaluation experience of education projects.
Experience in stakeholder’s engagement, especially Ministry of Education and Sub County administration.
