About the job
Duties and responsibilities:

In charge for all tax matters of STRABAG entities in East Africa (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania)
Responsible for full tax compliance of all regional entities
Coordination of tax audits and collaboration with tax consultants
Tax dispute management as well as internal advice for resolving according to all legal and compliance requirements in the country and European company
Responsible for the correct recognition of tax requirements in the calculation phase for new project tenders
Guidance of accounting teams on tax compliant accounting procedures
Support or be responsible for annual financial statements and tax return declarations in collaboration with Finance Team
Collaborate with the Finance Team in Accountancy, monthly closings, implementation of accounting standards (Local Gaap, IFRS)
Opening branches and entities, providing legal expertise on tax-implications of different corporate forms / closing branches and entities
Connect with group internal “Central Finance”, “Tax Services”, “Tender Calculation” or “International Legal Department” where necessary
Support STRABAG in developing new market entries worldwide by providing assessment of countries tax systems
Support or responsibility for non-standard commercial tasks
Support and/or collaborate with the Branch Finance Team

Qualifications:

Certified and experienced Tax Advisor or Tax Consultant with focus on tax law East Africa
Minimum of 5 years practical experience
Experience with international tax laws
Construction industry specific work experience is of advantage
Team play in international environment and open communication is a vital necessity
Good command of written and spoken English is compulsory, German as well as other foreign languages are an advantage
ability to work independently, decision-making ability, determination, and ability to work under pressure are of advantage
