The Role in summary
The Preparatory School runs from Early Years to Year 8 and has a student population of about 250. This is a vibrant community, whose students, parents and teachers work collaboratively within an atmosphere of mutual respect.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the pastoral provision in Senior School which runs from YR 6 to YR 8 and will also teach English or Geography across the same year Groups. As a teacher s/he will be responsible for student outcomes, curriculum delivery, and stimulate the students’ curiosity to learn. The department follows the British National Curriculum (BNC) and runs Common Entrance Examination.

subject teacher
Duties and Roles:
Head of Senior School
Responsible for leading Teaching and Learning and ensuring implementation of curriculum and student progress and attainment.
Responsible for monitoring and supporting the overall progress and development of students within the department.
Responsible for Pastoral Care in Senior by having oversight of the behaviour and welfare of students in classrooms and around the school, ensuring that new students are well inducted and settled in, promoting the living out of school values and ensuring pastoral provision for every student.
Lead and line manage staff, including performance appraisal and professional development.
Contribute accordingly to school leadership, policy and strategy.
Teacher
Act as an effective form tutor and to carry out the duties associated with that role as outlined in the generic job
Monitor student attendance and punctuality together with students’ progress and performance in relation to targets set for each individual; ensuring that follow-up procedures are adhered to and that appropriate action is taken where
Ensure the Behaviour for Learning system is implemented so that effective learning can take
Ensure effective learning for all students through excellent teaching and delivery of well-planned and organised lessons across key stages.
Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students.
Use appropriate strategies to ensure outstanding student progress and well-being.
Set and mark challenging class and homework according to school policy.
Support the development of teaching materials and courses of study.
Participate in arrangements for preparing students for internal and external examinations and in assessing students for the purpose of such examinations.
Liaise with parents and support staff to ensure excellent attainment.
Support extended intervention/enrichment activities to enhance students’ learning experience.
Maintain an organised and well-presented learning environment for students.
Contributing to the maintenance of a supportive and stimulating learning environment for all students
Support and uphold the requirements of school polices.
Adhere to the staff code of conduct.
Be responsible for ensuring subject knowledge is developed and participate in staff training and development.
Attend team/staff meetings and participate in open evenings.
Participate in relevant administrative and organisational tasks.
Remuneration and Benefits
In addition to working with exceptional colleagues and students, the successful candidate will receive a 2-year renewable contract and a salary within the hillcrest pay scale. Other benefits include:
