ROLE DESCRIPTION
Our client, in the insurance industry, is looking to build a team that will join the digital side of the business.
Scrum Masters are servant leaders, facilitators, and coaches for an Agile Team, their primary role is to help teams create and deliver high-value sprint and PI increments. To do this Scrum Masters help educate the team in Agile, Scrum, and SAFe principles, ensuring that the agreed Agile practices are being followed. Scrum Masters facilitate the removal of impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement. The Scrum Master’s primary responsibility is assisting the self-organizing, self-managing team to achieve its goals. Scrum Masters do this by facilitating, teaching, and coaching team practices, implementing and supporting SAFe principles and practices. The Scrum Master also helps the team coordinate with other teams in the programme.
Key Responsibilities
Help the team achieve their sprint and PI goals.
Facilitate the team engagements for better efficiency of the team. Bringing stakeholders and the team closer to ensure total alignment on work required.
Facilitate the removal of impediments for the team.
Facilitate events such as daily stand-up meetings, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, Sprint Reviews, Sprint Retrospectives, and decision-making processes in order to ensure optimal value.
Acts as a safeguard for the team.
Aligns across other teams at Scrum of Scrums to improve overall programme delivery.
Leads team effort in relentless improvement.
Builds a high-performing team, focuses on ever-improving team dynamics and performance, and coaches the team in self-management.
Facilitates preparation and readiness for ART events.
QUALIFICATIONS AND ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this role, you need to have:
Knowledge of agile methodology and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, Scaled Agile (SAFe) etc. so that they can explain other methodologies to motivate their team if needed.
Professional facilitation skills to empower the team through facilitation.
Understand the value of team metrics and keep track of them to drive team performance.
Ability to run and facilitate core meetings and activities: Backlog Refinement, Sprint Planning, story writing, sizing, prioritising, Daily stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.
Stakeholder Management, Negotiation & Communication Skills.
Empower the team through coaching.
JIRA/Confluence experience (or other relevant tools). Make work visible through a Sprint board.
