Protection Assistant Professional Growth Assistant

Responsibilities:

Contribute to broad implementation of protection activities in urban program and that are responsive to the needs of refugee and host communities – women, girls, men & boys in the fair recycling sector. 
Assist to map out and stay updated on the situation for plastics circular economy in Kenya as related to protection concerns.
Contribute and ensure the provision of professional and confidential protection – psychosocial services to survivors of GBV and other beneficiaries through a survivor-centered case management approach. 
Play a contributive role the design and development of sector concept notes and proposals.   
Support provide in protection data analysis (conflict, child and gender etc.) and maintain a reliable beneficiary database inline with data protection policy/guidelines. 
Work closely with the livelihoods, meal and advocacy/communication team/s to contribute in enhancing program integration through well thought out strategies.  
Contribute in submission of timely and high-quality activity and donor and internal progress reports that includes documentation of program milestones through case studies and human-interest stories for influencing impact at scale and contributing to fundraising.
Assist the Project Officer in project kick-off, review and project closure meetings including periodic program review and planning meetings and external meetings as often and as requested by the supervisor.
Support to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, including urban refugee and host community members and leaders, NGOs, UN agencies, and other DRC team members to enhance multi-agency and multi-sectoral cooperation and coordination on response activities.
Assist to promote collaboration and synergy between refugee focused interventions and the host communities. 
Contribute in active participation and maintenance of a strong working relationship with protection cluster and related working groups to support the provision of quality services to persons of concern.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the Protection Officer in consultations with the DMDP Project Manager to ensure the project expectations are met.

Experience and technical competencies:  

Minimum of 2 years’ field experience in protection programming in an International NGO’ or other relevant agency and comprehension of natural resource management, waste management/ recycling industry is an added advantage. 
Good project management skills, with experience in multiple location and projects.
Experience working in urban displacement responses in multi-sectoral interventions.
Good planning, organization and problem-solving skills with ability to work both independently and within a team in a demanding working environment.
Good analytical and strategic planning skills.
A demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with host governments, donors, partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
Good level communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Sociology -major Counseling and/or Psychology.

Languages:

Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili.

Conditions:  

Contract duration: 11 months. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council terms of employment for National staff.

Internal: Programme Management Unit, M&E staff, implementing field teams, senior management team and support service team
External: Technical Working Group(s), refugee and host communities, Local and National Government Authorities, relevant NGOs/CBOs and humanitarian agencies, including DRC Partners and donors as appropriate.
