Reporting to: Chief Internal Auditor
Job Purpose:
Provide independent assurance designed to assist management in achieving the Organizations Strategic, operational, reporting and compliance objectives. Audits will focus on evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of operational processes and controls. The manager will implement independent, systematic and objective reviews of business policies, systems, processes and practices, as well as ensuring that good corporate governance practices are implemented to enhance the organizations credibility and brand.
Key Responsibilities:
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Assist the Chief Internal Auditor in developing Annual audit plans
Assist in preparation of Board audit committee papers (BAC) and Board brief.
Attend BAC meeting and articulate KEY audit findings and recommendations as assigned by CIA from time to time.
Conduct individual audits assignments in line with the Approved audit plan.
Supervise direct reports and ensure Audit work is properly documented in the system (Teammate) and meets IPPF standards.
Champion use of data analytics (Idea, SQL) in all assignments.
Champion continuous audits.
Conduct/assist in conducting quality assurance audits during projects and products development.
Conduct/assist in conducting forensic investigations as assigned by the Chief internal auditor from time to time.
Conduct/assist in conducting Information systems audits as assigned by the Chief internal auditor from time to time.
Follow-up close of audit issues every month and every quarter.
Training of employees on Audit and Compliance matters.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Assist the Chief Internal Auditor in developing the department’s budget and monitoring
Conduct performance appraisal for direct reports.
Build capacity in direct reports through continuous coaching, mentoring and guidance.
Ensuring proper systems are in place to effectively manage AML/CFT risk at your level.
Any other official duties that may be allocated from time to time by management.
The Person:
The ideal candidate must possess the following:
Qualifications
Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, IT or Business related fields.
Full qualifications in CPA, ACCA
Member of ICPA-K
CISA qualification (desirable)
Member of ISACA (added advantage)
Post Graduate Qualification (added advantage)
Minimum of 6 (Six) years of external or internal auditing experience in Financial services sector
Hands-on experience in the use CAATs
In-depth understanding of IFRS, CBK prudential guidelines and IPPF
Hands-on experience in carrying out Information systems audits
Exposure in board reporting
