About the role
The Discover Team is involved in developing new products and processes within Sanergy’s R&D Department. A lab assistant role within the Discover Team involves carrying out and facilitating the external testing of samples produced during the testing of these new ideas.
In this role you will be involved in the following workstreams:
Carrying out analyses on samples using in-house equipment
Liasing with external vendors to carry out additional testing and facilitating their payment
Data collection, entry and analysis
Keeping an up to date inventory and maintaining lab stores
Key duties and responsibilities
Project management:
Develop weekly work plans to ensure tasks are completed on-time while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards
Organise and manage your own daily workflow in the lab
Maintain laboratory stores by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies
Data collection and analysis:
Interpret, document and manage analytical data as well as provide reports and recommendations on results to the respective departments
Maintain and develop laboratory manuals and safe operating procedures. Regularly compile and communicate to staff on any changes in standards and procedures and that may affect their work
Research new laboratory procedures and techniques and implement these if required
Collaboration with external laboratories:
Work with external labs to ensure we get quality results and within the stipulated timelines, including processing payment requests
Identify new vendors who can offer Sanergy vauable services
Laboratory maintenance:
Ensure laboratory PPE are kept in good order and equipment is functioning by calibrating equipment and arranging any replacements and repairs
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Masters in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Microbiology
0-2 years of working in a lab environment is advantageous
Experience using sterile techniques while handling microorganisms is advantageous
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Exhibit excellent attention to detail
Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Desire to improve yourself, your team, and your organization
