Financial Accountant

Sameer Africa Plc, has an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and resourceful candidate with at least 3 years’ relevant experience to fill the  above position.
Main Purpose of the Role

Ensuring integrity of all finance data
Among others, key accountabilities will include: –
Updating, reviewing and ensuring accuracy of all accruals and prepayment ledgers.
Ensure that all expenses are updated and properly classified into their respective general ledger reporting categories.
Ensure an automated, robust and accurate reporting system for expenses by cost center and general ledger category.
Preparation of the monthly working capital file to cover all balance sheet accounts.
Payroll management.
Prepare monthly and annual financial accounts in compliance with local and international financial reporting standards.
Coordination of interim and final audit processes and Implement control procedures and recommendations from audits on time and in full to ensure a robust internal control environment.
Coordination of revenue authorities’ audit through follow up and resolution of all audit queries and lodging of claim refunds.
Ensuring compliance to tax regulations through timely filing of tax returns and payment of taxes.
Supervision of document management by ensuring proper and safe custody of all finance documents.
Management of the document retention and archival policy.
Supervising quarterly stocks takes and fixed assets verification and tagging.
Supervising month end and year end closing activities of books of accounts.
Responsible for talent management in the Financial Accounting section including coaching, mentoring, developing, motivating, training and 
evaluating staff to achieve highest levels of performance.
Identifying, implementing and benchmarking best practices in financial accounting.
Executing the departmental strategy in line with the corporate strategy.
Implementing product & service quality, customer excellence and change initiatives to achieve desired business performance and culture

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance
CPA(K) or equivalent
ICPAK Membership
Knowledge of operational tax matters across the East African region.
Analytical skills.
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Excellent accounting skills.
Excellent ERP Knowledge (SAP knowledge will be an advantage).
Understanding of financial controls.
