Legal Committee Internship

For better execution of its mandate, the Council of Governors is established in various sectorial working Committees and Departments. To enable the Council achieve its mandate and vision, the Council wishes to recruit an Intern to support the Legal Department at the Council:
Scope of Assignments
The specific duties and responsibilities will include:

Monitoring Bills from the Senate and National Assembly;
Monitoring the Hansard and Order Papers at the Senate and the National Assembly;
Monitoring the Kenya Gazette;
Assist in coordinating logistics in the Legal and other COG meetings;
Assist the COG Legal consultants in following up on actions pursuant to meetings, MOUs, Legal deeds, and annual returns;
Assist in convening and taking minutes for the bi-weekly Committee meetings;
Assist in research on contemporary issues regarding Planning, Budgeting,
Accounting, Monitoring and evaluation;
Assist in preparation of press statements in conjunction with the Communication Department;
Assist in tracking of the media reports on the Legal matters and developing a status update matrix on the decisions taken from time to time on the issues highlighted;
Ensure up to date documentation of important Legal paperwork;
Research and prepare Legal briefs on Legal issues confronted in the Council;
Compile any required information and maintain documentation;
Review and provide feedback on Legal aspects for all Committees in the Council.
Maintaining and providing access to statutory registers for the supervisor;
Support in the implementation of the Legal Department workplan;
Perform any other duty as maybe assigned by the Supervisor
Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Supervision
The Assignments will be task managed by the Legal Department supervised by and reporting to the Legal Officer.
Duration of the assignment
The internship duration is for a period of six (6) months.
Required Qualifications

Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
Certificate in Computer applications.
Experienced in undertaking comprehensive research;
Outstanding Interpersonal, analytical and communication skills;
Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy and attention to detail;
A high level of computer literacy and proficient in written and spoken English and Kiswahili; and
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
