Key Accountabilities:
Be an advocate for high quality regulatory thinking across the business
Delivery of high quality regulatory and economic analysis and advice on matters relevant to 14 telecom OPCOs :
Analytical tasks related to the regulation of network industries, including aspects relating to economic regulation, price control, cost-efficiency, and competition policy.
Design and develop the Compliance Management Program (CMP), that covers laws, regulations and license terms and conditions applicable across Airtel operations in Africa
Ensure that the CMP is implemented across all Airtel operations in Africa.
To support local teams with managing the various challenges faced in the implementing the CMP in the Africa.
To monitor compliance with the CMP, on a regular basis across the Airtel Africa operations
To ensure that corrective actions are taken in situations of default.
Design and develop processes that ensure that all Airtel products and services are designed in compliance with local laws and regulations applicable in all Airtel operations in Africa.
Design and develop processes that ensure that all Airtel products and services are duly authorized by the respective National Regulatory Authorities, operating in Airtel Africa countries.
Support and work closely with the internal audit function as it monitors compliance within the Airtel Africa operations.
What will make you successful?
Qualifications
Degree in relevant discipline such as economics, finance, engineering, regulatory policy or law.
Master’s in Business Administration or a higher degree in any of the above disciplines would be an added advantage.
Proficiency in both French and English
Competencies
Commercial, regulatory backgrounds with a strong economic and technical understanding of the telecoms sectors, their networks and product offerings including mobile money.
Practical experience of the telecommunications economic regulatory arena and competition
Ability to forge effective relationships at all levels internally, externally and cross functionally.
In-depth understanding of the control and management of projects, in terms of the key support deliverables necessary to ensure their successful delivery;
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to provide direction when delivering key projects at Group and across OPCOS;
Leads OPCO teams , setting high standards, tackling any performance problems and facilitating high performance
Demonstrable strategic outlook, commercial awareness, financial acumen
Ability to design and develop processes
Leadership skills to drive compliance through the various regulatory heads and CEOS in the Airtel Africa operations.
Sound understanding of market conditions across Africa.
Good understanding of compliance requirements across Africa
Experience of working in a multinational, corporate or large scale organization where relationship building and influencing across diverse stakeholder groups is essential
Organizational Awareness: Understanding of organizational structure, priorities and
in order to operate effectively to achieve departmental and commercial objectives
Managing People: Ability to use appropriate skills and leadership styles to effectively direct,
support, guide and lead individuals cross functional teams at HQ and in 14 Markets
