Head of Treasury

DIB Kenya is looking for a Head of Treasury to head the Treasury business with overall accountability for Treasury business and funding strategy, bank’s balance sheet and achievement of targeted income and operating profit within acceptable levels of risk and in line with Bank’s strategy.  
Requirements:

10-15 years of banking experience with Extensive Treasury, Markets and Risk Management knowledge, with a thorough understanding of FX, Money Markets, Fixed Income and Derivative Products.
Minimum Bachelor degree with excellent conceptual and practical knowledge of financial markets. Advanced qualifications in treasury management is desirable.
An experienced commercial banker with a thorough understanding of the operating environment dynamics, banking products and management structures of a large and successful commercial Bank
Strong interpersonal skills and high levels of maturity to manage interaction with different Business Units in the Bank especially in the matrix organization structure / Global lines of business.
Strong analytical and communication skills to gain approval of Treasurer, ALCO members and Board for complex strategies and funding solutions.
Ability to articulate market views and translate into trading strategies
Fully conversant with Reuters, Bloomberg and other financial systems; Central Bank guidelines; Credit and Market Risk policies;

Responsibilities:

Defining Bank’s strategy with the top management and developing and driving implementation of Treasury business strategy and ensuring successful alignment with the overall strategy of the Bank to optimize profitability and maximize market share.
Provide Management with timely balance sheet analysis & market information by engaged in an up-to-date Balance Sheet strategy that compliments the bank’s revenues aspirations.
Support Management in decisions relating to Capital requirements and management, proposing investment strategies, and market research.
Ensure liquidity / contingent policy is available to address any planned / unplanned liquidity requirements; statutory liquidity requirements and internal guidelines are adhered to.
Propose, negotiate and regularly advise on the Funds Transfer Pricing Policy for the Bank, in a consistent manner and in compliance with Bank’s policies, taking into account local market dynamics.
Proactively manage balance sheet and identifying arising risks and hedging strategies.
Liaise with other business heads to formulate liquidity requirements and plan accordingly to maintain strategic capability to meet stressed liquidity conditions if and when required.
Ensure limits structure is available and that all business decisions are made within approved limits.
Ensures Treasury’s representation in projects involving the implementation of major changes in the systems technology area for the Bank.
Managing profit rate mismatch and risk positions to maximize returns
Sourcing low cost funds
Managing operating costs
Ensure full understanding of other businesses’ strategies, providing support with regards to funding and pricing requirements.
To drive the Bank’s out serve initiative, ensuring this covers both internal and external relationships.
Identifying training and development needs of team members and ensuring ongoing capability development for the department
Driving and championing a culture of meritocracy, learning and empowerment by evaluating performance, coaching team members, creating career paths and guiding them towards better performance.
