GBV Prevention Training Consultant

Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in Kenya, on March 13th 2020, the government put in place measures to limit the spread of the disease and this negatively impacted vulnerable groups including refugees. At the same time, existing inequalities are exacerbated in any crisis, and women, girls, and other vulnerable populations are at increased risk of gender‐based violence (GBV) and intimate partner violence (IPV), other safety/security threats, and denial of movements, rights, or services. As reported by Kenya’s National Council on Administration of Justice[1], since the start of COVID-19, there has been a significant spike in sexual offences in many parts of the country and in some cases, the perpetrators are close relatives, guardians and/or persons living with the victims.
