OVERALL PURPOSE:
Operation of professional Television broadcast equipment for recording, transmission and live broadcast to ensure the highest quality of audio and video signal.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate Studio and OB equipment e.g. sound mixers, studio cameras, vision mixers and lighting console; to ensure quality sound and video in studio productions and live OBs.
Work closely with the producer/director on the requirements of studio recordings/live coverage in order to come up with a required checklist for the execution of the production. Recce/set up should be done prior to the day of production.
Direct live productions.
Safe handling of equipment during and after productions, reporting malfunctions to the relevant officers and sending faulty equipment to the workshop for repair.
Compile all commercials, programs and promos for transmission and ensure they run as per the Daily Transmission Schedule (DTS).
Manage the ‘As Run’ logs during transmission.
Carry out other duties as may be assigned; video editing, camera operations etc.
To provide a daily report of events and recommend ways of improvements to the respective Team Lead (Broadcast Systems Technician & Studio Supervisor).
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCES
University Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Media Technology.
Minimum 2years of TV studio engineering/operation experience in video and audio technology.
Familiarity with video and audio system design concept and equipment.
Familiarity with TV news and magazine production technical requirements.
Equipment set up/operation and engineering skills and experience.
Familiarity with the transmission operations and the various softwares used.
Studio lighting skills and experience in console operation.
