IT Audit Assistant

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head, Systems and Control (SYSCON), the IT Audit Assistant will assist in the audit of Bank systems so as to offer independent assurance to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control, risk management and governance systems and processes

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related course

CPA or ACCA certified
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) qualification
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role within a bank, Financial institution or professional services firm

Competencies & Skills

Knowledge of banking and regulatory operations and regulations
High computer literacy
Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision
Investigation and Probing skills
Communication skills, including oral communication, report writing, and presentation skills
Knowledge in auditing, internal audit standards, fraud awareness, and professional ethical standards

Responsibilities

Carrying out Internal audits as per the approved Audit Plan to ensure compliance with the Bank’s policies and procedures (SOPs), statutory requirements and best practices;

Executing audit assignments related to Information Technology and the E-Business division of the Bank as assigned;
Carrying out IT monitoring activities as provided for in the IT Audit;
Documenting work done in the audit working papers;
Communicating in a timely manner, the audit findings including control risks, potential consequences and recommendations in well balanced, pragmatic and error free reports
Conducting Operation Performance Reviews across various departments and providing feedback to the concerned unit;
Monthly review of the General Ledger proofs for all units/branches including the daily review of the Banks suspense/sensitive ledger proofs;
Reviewing refund related customer complaints and providing independent assessments to assist Management with the final approval process;
Performing KYC (Know your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) tests to check on compliance with POCAMLA (Proceeds of Crime and Anti Money Laundering Act);
Weekly SLA reviews for all units/branches;
Ad-Hoc assignments including review of User Acceptance Tests, investigations ,etc;
Regular and surprise (spot) inspections of all processes, ensuring that they comply with the Bank’s policy and procedures, statutory requirements and best practice guidelines;
Ensuring adoption of audit best practice from the Industry, Group Internal Audit through review of audit processes and procedure manuals, audit working papers and templates;
Providing advisory services to stakeholders regarding controls on new products and services in the Bank with a focus on those touching on Technology;
Play an independent assurance role in all strategic Bank projects ensuring that project risks are identified and mitigated.
